Collection: WAIST JEWELRY

Traditional waist beads are believed to have originated in Egypt. They were then made popular by, what is now known as, Nigeria (as well as parts of Western Africa, notably: Ghana). Dating back to as early as the 15th century, waist beads were used in order to track a young woman's growth, symbolize fertility, and sexuality. However now some women wear their waist beads fashionably, to be seen, and to adorn their bodies!
